About the Author
W. Lawrence Neuman James is professor of sociology and Asian Studies coordinator at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. His M.A. and Ph.D. were earned at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has authored seven books and published 35 articles and book chapters, which have appeared in Social Problems, Sociological Inquiry, Social Science Quarterly, American Sociological Review, Critical Asian Studies, Teaching Sociology, The Journal of Contemporary Asia, Sociological Quarterly, and other journals . He is a former president of the Wisconsin Sociological Association. Neuman has received his university’s highest award for research, the Chancellor's Award for service to students with disabilities, as well as the the Wisconsin Sociological Association's Outstanding Service Award, and the College of Letters and Sciences awards for outstanding teaching, excellence in research, and outstanding service.

Only a sales letter

Friend, do not buy this book, is only a sales later packed in a book format. Even the author give away this ebook in his web for free, no relevant content, no great secrets revealed, just a self edited book in order to promote his web product priced at 3.000 $.

Decent, but some vague chapters.

I definitely liked Mike's book, but I didn't really learn anything new. I give it 3.5 stars, bit had to round up. It wasn't anything 'revolutionary' and it didn't turn me into a millionaire following the five steps, all of which I've implemented on my own before this book. As well, there really isn't much detail i this book to these five steps. I think the book's purpose is to serve as more of a sales pitch book, giving a reader unfamiliar with these steps just a taste to pull them into his own funnel. Some of the chapters seemed like vague ramblings as well. Still, the man has made millions and I am sure he can help a unique individual who already stands out in their field to succeed, so it might be a great connection to have...but you're not going to learn what you need to make serious money from just this book, as he gives just enough info to compete with every other 99 cent marketing book out there.

About the Author
Velson Horie is a strategic planner with an international reputation in project management, research, and teaching. After a degree in chemistry, he trained in archaeological conservation at the Institute of Archaeology (London) where interest started in polymers and their use in conservation. As an archaeological conservator in the north-east of England, he pioneered the use of environmental control and the integration of conservation ideas into wider museum concerns. For 28 years he was Keeper of Conservation at The Manchester Museum, The University of Manchester, then was the Research Project Manager at the British Library coordinating an international and interdisciplinary study on the natural ageing of books. He has carried out conservation, research, and professional coordination primarily with organic materials, such as polymers, preserved animal skin, movie film, and degraded wood. He project managed and delivered a wide range of projects, from collaborative research to professional accreditation to a £21m capital development. All required, and benefited from, multi-disciplinary teams, focussed on quality improvements with clear public benefits. Teaching experience includes university lectures, a distance learning course on Chemistry for Conservators and professional updating courses on polymers, most recently involved with the design and delivery of a course Adhesives for Conservation for the American Institute for Conservation. He acts as a consultant to museums and other institutions on their development and Curatorial Advisor to the New Mills Heritage Centre. He has upwards of 80 publications and editorships, including Materials for Conservation and papers on film degradation and preservation. He is a Fellow of the International Institute for Conservation, and the Museums Association, an Accredited Conservator-Restorer, and a professional Member of the Association for Project Management. He was on the board of the Institute of Conservation and its predecessor. He is currently Treasurer of the International Institute for Conservation.

clever, inspiring, easy read book

This book is an easy read with tons of tips,"minders", and helpful suggestions to keep you motivated and inspired to stay on your diet. It has space for writing down thoughts and to keep a journal to make it your own journey and recipe for success. It is a spiritual approach but everybody, regardless of religion or lack thereof will learn something new and aspire to be healthier and take better care of him/herself. The author also includes a list of resources for diet ideas, support and spiritual growth.

Good basic overview of Jun Fan Gung Fu's basic striking

Jeet Kune Do Kickboxing is a good overview of the basics of Jun Fan Gung Fu in the kicking and punching range. If you're already a Jun Fan / JKD student under a qualified instructor you probably won't get anything really new out of this, but it is a good reference for those of us who aren't good about taking notes. My only complaint is that the basic stance and footwork are only given about a page and a half, and IMO, those are two of the absolute most important things as they are the foundation for everything else. If you don't have a good stance and good footwork, everything else falls apart.

A good basic guide Jeet Kune Do kickboxing training techniques.

The late Bruce Lee studied numerous martial arts in the development of his Jeet Kune Do approach to combat. Kickboxing was one of the combat arts he studied. The authors both studied under the legendary Dan Inosanto, who was Bruce Lee's top student. The authors emphasize that "this is not a book on techniques" but rather just one way of looking at a particular combat method. The areas covered in this text include: A brief history of the Jeet Kune do kickboxing approach, basic hand tools use with equipment, the JKD stance, foot weapons, how to attack with combinations, progressive indirect attack, defensive tools and other training drills are demonstrated. One of the areas I disagree with in Jeet Kune Do is their use of the strong side leg and stong side hand forward in their kickboxing and fighting method.

In conclusion, this is a good basic introduction to Jeet Kune Do Kickboxing, which will be of interest to most martial artists.

Good but not good enough

This book offers a glimpse at Jeet Kune Do principles as they are applied to the sport of Kickboxing. The focus mitt drills as well as the other drills are explained correctlly but the poor photography really doesn't reveal the tecniques in the best form. Also this book was written in the 80's as a current Asst. Instructor in JKD I can tell you that the techniques and strategies in JKD have changed quite a bit since this book was written. For a better read pick up Principles of a Complete Fighter by Ron Balicki. It gives you a good view of current JKD training and strategy

Mercedes Lackey's Last herald Mage series consists of three different books, originally published separately: Magic's Pawn, Magic's Promise and Magic's Price. They describe the life of one man, from adolescence to maturity, who lives in a world peopled with kings, warriors, fantastical creatures and all of the things that readers of fantasy have come to love and identify with.

One slight twist: Vanyel, the story's protagonist, just happens to be gay.

From the titles, the stories obviously have to do with magic and the people who wield it. Lackey writes with great passion, and it is her love for the world she's created in these books that makes them worthwhile. Her system of magic isn't overly complex, but it is well thought out, and has appeal to a wide range of readers.

Rather than focusing on epic battles and the machinations of vast armies, Lackey concentrates on character development and interpersonal relationships. One gets a sense that she spent time getting to know each character and giving that character a piece of herself.

The first book deals with Vanyel's coming of age. I won't go into detail, because spoiling the plot is hardly the point of a reader review. I will say that where Lackey fails is that she sometimes is reduced to the overly dramatic. When something slightly funny happens, the characters shove fists in mouths to keep from laughing, and can barely stand up for fear of splitting sides. When something bad happens, it's always the worst thing imaginable. But such is adolescence, and one comes to enjoy Vanyel's strengths, be annoyed with his faults and earnestly hope he will mature. Which he does.

Aside from creating a very competent feel for magic use, from the perspective of a reader of fantasy, the plots to each of the three stories are interesting and well written. The plots move, rather than just serving as an excuse for another writer to extrapolate upon what she thinks magic is.

On top of all of that, a love story that touches the heart, if you're a reader who enjoys that sort of thing.

Mercedes Lackey writes with grace and style. If you are a reader of fantasy who enjoys works by writers such as Anne McCaffrey or Terry Brooks, the Last Herald Mage series is definitely something you should consider putting on your reading list.
