This book is decent.

Pros: good systematic method of approaching the encounters. Mnemonics are easy to remember and make sense. The strategies it continually goes over do come together to make a sound cohesive method to the encounter. The humanistic domain & history taking chapters are solid. The complaints in the simulated cases are a lot of 'most commons' and probably more likely to show up on your PE. The cases include a blank soap note so you can practice writing them out.

Cons: I expected some OMM suggestions for complaints and there are none. I figured that if the book is aimed at the osteopathic exam then it would have a little more osteopathic emphasis. Not much in the simulated cases as far as ideas for differential/plan.

I think the First Aid book is better - includes differentials and plans/workup on top of what this book offers. Use Savarese and/or Nicholas & Nicholas for the Osteopathic stuff.

Very good and helpful!

For those of you who wonder how they grade test takers, this book has it. This test is a big waste of money and time. It's just another way to for the AOA to make $$$, but you have to pass it anyway.

When I was a student, I had no idea what criteria they used to pass students. This book has it. You will not find the criteria online. Instead, you always hear vague "criteria" on what people think they did to pass. Just buy this book. You'll wont regret. I had the mistake of relying on the USMLE CS and that didn't help for COMLEX PE.

Awesome book. I read this book in its entirety on the plane to Conshohocken, PA for my COMLEX PE. It had everything I needed (besides a few pertinent osteopathic treatments I reviewed from another book). I passed and it was the main resource I used!

This put me to sleep. But yet again the only reason I bought this was because I had to for English. But hey I don't know maybe you enjoy reading a collection of 50 old mediocre essays (excluding Declaration of Independence, I like that one). If you enjoy that kind of thing this is the book for you. If you don't well then it is a good way to fall asleep... Anyway the book was in good condition as the description says, it just gets 1 star for it dullness. Hope this helps.

Lots of Information on the Mechanical and Maintenance, But not much on the day-to-day, staff and budgeting. If you are a corporate head without mechanical skills this book is for you ( two starts because of that). BTW its kinda of outdated and boring.

The Coptic Monastery of St. Paul by the Red Sea grew up around the cave where Paul, the first Christian hermit, lived in solitude. The cave served as a shrine in late antiquity, became a church in the middle ages, and expanded again in the early modern period.

 

This visually and intellectually exciting book chronicles the history of a series of devotional paintings in the Cave Church. It explores how the monastic community commissioned painting twice in the church in the 13th century, during one of the greatest eras of Coptic art, and how one of the monks painted it again in the 18th century, helping to inaugurate a Coptic renaissance after centuries of decline.

 

The foundation of this volume is a wall painting conservation project sponsored by the American Research Center in Egypt. The book also sets the art and architecture of the Cave Church in its historical context and examines the role of the Monastery of St. Paul as part of the sacred geography of Christian Egypt through time.

a handsome, unique book

So I saw this pricey book at a nice bookshop last year and fell in love with it. Decided to try for a lower price through Amazon. Easily done and received.

Without going into great detail I'll just say that it is quite gorgeous with large photos on virtually every leaf of this 393 page folio book. The photos are of course of the 18th century paintings in this fabulous Egyptian monastery (well represented on the cover). The paintings have a style much embedded in the medieval tradition with a wonderfully "crude" Coptic folk flavor. Plenty of visual comparisons with other Coptic works are offered to the reader as well. The book is comprehensively researched over a period of several years with a kind of intimate, enthusiastic, competent scholarship. It includes very involved indices that most readers, including me, won't spend much time in---but if one ever wants to chase down more of the same this will certainly guide the pilgrim where he wants to go. Published according to the high standards of Yale Univ. Press. If you purchase the book you won't be disappointed. Short of living in this splendidly ornate monastery occasional leisurely moments in this book is the next best thing.
