I flipped the fat burning switch and 12 months later I'm still burning!

I'm a 67 year old woman who has struggled with weight issues for the last 20 years. I've tried practically every diet and weight loss plan. First of all, I am 52 and have been on every diet you can imagine. Secondly, I am an educated and successful businesswoman. While the concept of insulin resistance is not new, there's much to be learned about how to tackle metabolic syndrome which the author tackles head on. The concept of "adding" fat burning foods rather than "restricting" calories caught my attention, along with the concept of interval training which for me is a much more reasonable approach for me given my busy schedule. I was able to review this book prior to print and have lost over 60 pounds. There's a real integrity to the author's own experience and pursuit of a healthier lifestyle that has resonated with me and I feel better than I have in many years. Quick read and some great recipes as well.

Not new Information, BUT has changed my life. Thanks Mike!

Many of the 1 or 2-star reviews point to how Mike is simply re-hashing what has been said before. This does not make this a bad book. I am confident some budding fitness enthusiasts will gain something from this book and find their quality of life improve.

The diet (while certainly not groundbreaking) has truly improved my life. I have more energy throughout my day, sleep better than ever before, and don't feel the need to eat as much. Most importantly I feel a much greater degree of mental clarity in my life. Prior to adopting this 'diet' I had followed a Mediterranean diet and exercised regularly. I had previously lost 30 pounds. After the losing the weight I felt frail and weak and could credit a lot of that weight loss to losing muscle. Despite eating what I presumed to be a healthy diet, I felt worse than before I lost the weight. This time around using the path Mike sets out, I have lost weight (in fat), gained muscle, and feel better than ever.

Lastly, I really appreciate the credibility Mike brings to the table. He is certainly informed on the subject and cites a number of studies to back up his points. I have always been very skeptical of the newest and hottest diet plans. Mike is not in the business of making millions in the diet industry, but in fact is writing the book for the sole purpose of providing an empathetic voice to weight problems that even active people have faced, all while laying out a clear solution.

Dr Rajkumar Buyya is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Software Engineering and Director of the Grid Computing and Distributed Systems (GRIDS) Laboratory at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He has pioneered the economic paradigm for utility-oriented distributed computing platforms such O16as Grids and Clouds, and served as foundation Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Scalable Computing. In recognition of these outstanding contributions, he received ‘2009 IEEE Medal for Excellence in Scalable Computing’. He has authored over 280 publications, which include best selling textbooks such as Mastering C++ (Tata McGraw-Hill, India, 2009) and edited books such as High Performance Cluster Computing (Prentice Hall, USA, 1999), Content Delivery Networks (Springer, Germany), and Market Oriented Grid and Utility Computing (Wiley Press, USA, 2009). He currently serves as the founding CEO of Manjrasoft Pvt Ltd., developing innovative software technologies for Grid and Cloud computing. Dr Thamarai S Selvi is a Professor and Head of the Department of Information Technology, MIT Campus, Anna University Chennai, India. She is also serving as Director of Centre for Advanced Computing Research and Education (CARE). She received Bharat Jyoti Award from India international Friendship Society in 2001. She has authored several research papers and books including A Textbook on C# (Pearson Education) and Testing your Skills in C (Tata McGraw-Hill). Mr Xingchen Chu is a Research Fellow in the Grid Computing and Distributed Systems (GRIDS) Laboratory, Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Melbourne, Australia. He has over 9 years of experience with software architecture, design, and development on a variety of platforms, including J2EE and .NET. His R&D interests include enterprise applications and Grid and Cloud computing technologies. Not the best but very good

It is well written but somehow i found this book is little weak.
Some part of books are just has no detailed explanation. Such as GUI programming, Socket Programming.
Also there are no sample codes (actually there is but not enough).

However, exercises of each chapter is very well. Force reader to re-think the chapter.

It is very good book for beginners and intermediate level programmers.

INTRODUCTION

In a day when unprecedented numbers of people have a form of religion while at the same time the church seems unable to stem the rising tide of degeneracy that threatens the land, the question might be raised: Why this paradox? Should not the church have influence for righteousness in proportion to her numbers? However one may seek to answer this question, it is obvious that what we need is not more religion, but more power. In short, we need real revival.

For this reason, the account after spontaneous revivals at Asbury College in 1950 and 1958 is very timely and provocative of thought. It shows what God can do when given a chance. The particular manifestations of these visitations of God may differ from others, for no two revivals are exactly alike. However, basic principles are reflected here which recur in all genuine spiritual awakenings. The sense of need, effectual prayer, confession and repentance, imparting of new life, infilling of the Holy Spirit and compulsion to tell the good news to others; these are relevant to every age.

The authors of these stories are well-qualified to speak, having experienced the events which they describe. Henry C. James, an alumnus, was himself converted during the revival of 1950; and Paul Rader, student leader on the Asbury campuses, was an active participant in the 1958 awakening. They are thus enabled through their close association with these revivals to transmit much of the moving drama of those days.

It is my hope that those who read these pages will catch something of the spirit which motivated its writing. But even more, I trust that many will be inspired to pray, to work and to believe God for revival today. The power of God is the same. The conditions for revival have not changed. We are the only variable factors in experiencing greater things than described in these pages. Trusting that this book will be used to open our eyes, I join the Psalmist in praying: "Wilt thou not revive us again; that thy people may rejoice in thee? " (Psalms 85:6).
