You've been warned............
Let me start by saying that I am huge EB Brown Fan. Loved the Time Walkers series and this book is spin-off from that series. It picks up after Makedewa's wife Rebecca died. If you haven't read the series by now, you should as some information might make you question what is going on in this story.
We start in Virginia in 1634. Cormaic is feeling lost in his own home and is openly defying his Chief, (Winn) by teaching his cousin Maggie (Winn's wife) to fight with a sword. He uses his blood stone in a drunken fit and launches himself into 2014 where he lands in the cabbage patch of Jule McLachlan, the last blooded McLachlen of her line. Form there we discover Jule threw herself through time as a child to avoid becoming used and discarded (killed when they couldn't breed anymore) like her mother and all other blooded ones before her.
Cormaic is trying to get himself home and Jule helps him by carving a rune in his skin to send him home. Little does she know that the rune returns them back to her time in 1430's Scotland. 20 years after she left. From here we meet a host of characters who are all related to Cormaic in one way or another through their time traveling family and the despicable Torquil McKintosh. We learn of clan feuds, there are deaths, promises made, hearts broken and a whole slew of trouble, romance, pain and longing through out the entire series in this book. The one thing that threw me for a loop and made me drop it down 1/2 a star was the week (or few days) where Jule and Alexander were hostages of Torquil Mckintosh. (Time got confusing for me as in one instance I thought it had been a week but might have turned out to be shorter. Still working on that. lol) Jule was repeatedly and forcefully raped by Torquil to ensure that he got powerful blooded ones in his clan. That would make him very powerful and important to the clans if he wedded and bedded a blooded one. I understand that in this time, the power was exploited and it followed with what was happening in the story but it was still unsettling to read. It didn't take up a lot of space in the book but it was repeated a couple of times.
Other than that, I loved it and cannot wait to read the next book in this series to find out what happens!

This is the first review I have written, so please excuse any faux pas on my part!
Not having read anything by this author before, including any of the Time Walker stories, I have to admit that it took me awhile to catch on to what was happening. Fortunately, the colorful and detailed character descriptions were more than enough to keep me interested. The story moves along in a spirited way with new twists and wrinkles popping up just frequently enough to keep the reader involved, even if the reader can see the bad stuff coming well before it happens! The story sometimes gets ahead of itself, and it becomes difficult to keep track of how much time is passing. This does not happen often, but enough to remark on.
As mentioned previously, the character development is brisk, but not always believable especially as regards Torquil McKintosh. The man is portrayed as a heartless monster, yet lets Alexander live, even after Torquil has married and bedded (raped) Jule (and Alexander repays him nicely!) Another confusing relationship is between Cormaic and Robb who begin as sworn enemies and by their next meeting are devoted kinsmen. None of these seeming out-of-character instances really detract from the flow and purpose of the story, but they do grab your attention.
This is a great read and would have been all the better if I'd read the previous TIme Walker series. I eagerly await the next installment because I really like these characters and I'm a sucker for time travel!

As the story continues

We met Coramic in The Time Walkers Series..... Now the story continues....
EB Brown is a funominal writter, she brings you to lands of the past, present and future through her words and imagination.
I wondered what happen to Coramic after his drunken use of his Blood stone now I have some of the answers. I enjoy the boy Alexander character emensely. Since Coramic traveled and feel in love and taking his duty to protect the Blooded Ones he has grown. He is not just a warrior any longer.
All readers will enjoy these Three episodes tremendously.
